Redbird Imi Acquires Uk’s Largest Tv Producer All3Media In $1.45B Deal

On Thursday, Jeff Zucker and Gerry Cardinale’s RedBird IMI finalized its £1.15 billion ($1.45 billion) acquisition of All3Media, the largest TV producer in the U.K. The deal, approved by regulators in the U.S., U.K., and Germany, sees RedBird IMI acquiring the production powerhouse from Warner Bros. Discovery and Liberty Global. All3Media is behind popular shows such as The Traitors, Squid Game: The Challenge, The Tourist, and the World War I epic 1917.
Earlier this year, RedBird IMI acquired a stake in Media Res, the studio behind The Morning Show and Pachinko, founded by former HBO executive Michael Ellenberg. With the addition of All3Media, RedBird IMI significantly expands its production portfolio. The company also owns EverWonder Studios (unscripted content), Hidden Pigeon Company (children’s entertainment), and digital news outlet Front Office Sports.
RedBird IMI CEO Zucker noted at a Wall Street Journal event in London last week that while the company has built a solid portfolio in entertainment, there’s still room for acquisitions that bring in more high-quality content. He also expressed interest in deals in the news and information space, particularly with digital companies.
Zucker now serves as chairman of the board of All3Media, which will continue to be led by CEO Jane Turton and COO Sara Geater. All3Media operates more than 50 production banners across the U.S., U.K., Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and New Zealand, including Sam Mendes’ Neal Street Productions (Call the Midwife, Penny Dreadful), Two Brothers Pictures (Fleabag, The Tourist), and documentary maker Raw (The Tinder Swindler). Other subsidiaries include Filmpool (Germany) and All3Media America, known for Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back.
In 2014, Liberty Global and Discovery (now Warner Bros. Discovery) acquired All3Media for approximately $930 million.
